CaixaBank posted a first-half net profit of €3.203 billion, up 8.5% from the same period last year, driven by growth in lending and client assets, though its shares dropped 6% following the results announcement.
Net interest income rose 2% year-on-year to €5.39 billion, while fee-based revenue from wealth management and insurance also climbed. The healthy loan portfolio expanded 8.2% to €398.8 billion, with corporate lending and consumer credit leading the growth. The bank's Portuguese unit BPI contributed €218 million to group earnings. Client funds reached €771.9 billion, up 7.6%.
The CET1 capital ratio stood at 12.5% and the non-performing loan ratio fell to 1.78%. CaixaBank, which raised its strategic plan targets through 2027, expects to define an interim dividend of up to €1.28 billion in October.
