Andy Burnham received nearly £350,000 in donations in the months before becoming leader of the Labour Party and prime minister, according to newly filed declarations covering the period since his election to parliament in June.
David Sainsbury was the largest single donor, contributing more than £160,000, including funds for office space and policy staff. Former adviser Sacha Lord gave £35,000, businessman Gary Lubner £25,000, and a company run by television producer Charlie Parsons £50,000. Trade unions Unison, the CWU, and the Fire Brigades Union contributed a combined £20,000, while ThinkLabour provided more than £22,000 in staff and IT equipment.
Burnham also declared hospitality worth over £12,000, including Glastonbury tickets, Brit Awards passes, and a gift hamper from Qatar's ambassador. Louise Haigh separately accepted £11,000 from Sainsbury for legal costs. The disclosures also show Burnham and his wife own a rental property in London.
