Australian politician Barnaby Joyce has apologised after shouting at his dog during a live television interview on the public broadcaster ABC on 20 July 2026.
The interruption came as journalist Sarah Ferguson pressed Joyce on his comfort with the direction of One Nation under its leader Pauline Hanson. Joyce, a member of the right-wing party, warned Ferguson the interview would end abruptly before the exchange continued. He dismissed suggestions that Hanson had overstepped by meeting Tommy Robinson, a convicted far-right British activist, during a trip to the United Kingdom.
One Nation, which Hanson founded in the 1990s as an anti-immigration party, has emerged as Australia's most popular party in recent opinion polls. Hanson has drawn criticism for remarks linking the end of the 1970s "White Australia" policy to the country's current social challenges.
