Arthur Fils secured his maiden Masters 1000 final appearance with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Flavio Cobolli at the Cincinnati Open on Saturday. The Frenchman will face Frances Tiafoe in the championship match, capping a breakthrough run on hard courts.

Fils, who notched 19 Masters 1000 wins this season to match the best campaign by a French player, climbs to a career-high ranking of world No. 11 when the updated standings are released Monday. He holds the No. 6 position in the Race to the ATP Finals.

In the women's draw, Jessica Pegula outlasted Iga Swiatek 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 to reach her Cincinnati final. Meanwhile, Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz will partner in the revamped US Open mixed doubles event, with Alcaraz returning after a four-month wrist injury layoff. Williams will not enter the singles competition.
