Amazon ends Walmart's 12-year reign atop Fortune Global 500

Amazon has claimed the top spot on the 2026 Fortune Global 500, ending Walmart's 12-year hold on first place. The latest ranking reflects record aggregate performance, with combined revenues reaching $43.1 trillion and profits hitting $3.4 trillion, the highest totals in the list's history.

The "Magnificent Seven" technology companies generated $2.3 trillion in revenue and $608 billion in net profit, while Alphabet posted the largest single-company profit at $132 billion. U.S. firms dominated the list with 141 entries, the most since 2008, and female chief executives reached a record 34, representing 6.8 percent of the total.

Among notable movers, TSMC climbed 44 places to 82nd, entering the top 100 for the first time, and Tencent also broke into the top 100 at 97th. Wistron recorded the list's biggest jump, surging 298 places to 198th.
