The Alternative for Germany (AfD) has laid out a 100-day governing agenda for Saxony-Anhalt, signalling its push for an outright majority in the state election on 6 September. Leading candidate Ulrich Siegmund presented the plan in Magdeburg, detailing ten immediate policy measures the party intends to enact if it wins power.
The programme calls for expanded detention capacity for deportations, mandatory work requirements for asylum seekers across the state, and subsidised driving licences. Party state chairman Martin Reichardt also accused incumbent Governor Sven Schulze of the Christian Democratic Union of dishonesty over a potential coalition with the Left party.
The AfD currently holds a significant lead over the CDU in opinion polls and is campaigning for a solo government, a scenario that would mark a first for the party at the state level in Germany.
