Copenhagen — Alma and Oscar were the most popular names given to newborns in Denmark in 2025, according to new data released by Statistics Denmark.
Oscar retained the top spot among boys' names for a second consecutive year, given to 18 out of every 1,000 newborn boys. Alma rose from fourth place in 2024 to claim the lead among girls' names, received by 17 out of every 1,000 newborn girls. Emma, the most popular girls' name in 2024, slipped to fifth place.
The annual list covers the top 50 names for each gender. Among the biggest climbers, Elmer jumped from 78th to 39th among boys' names, while Vilde rose from 60th to 49th among girls' names. Frederik and Marius fell out of the top 50 for boys entirely.
