Zlatko Dalic steps down as Croatia head coach after nine years and World Cup exit

· Sports HRV

Zlatko Dalic has stepped down as Croatia's head coach after nine years in charge, following the team's elimination from the World Cup. Croatia's tournament ended with a 2-1 defeat to Portugal in the round of 16 last week.

Dalic, whose contract has expired, is reportedly weighing a lucrative offer from the United Arab Emirates. During his tenure, he guided the national team to the 2018 World Cup final and a third-place finish in 2022, along with a runners-up spot in the 2023 Nations League. Croatia also exited Euro 2020 in the last 16 and failed to reach the knockout stage of Euro 2024.

Slaven Bilic is reportedly being positioned as Dalic's successor.
