German public broadcaster ZDF is ending its detective series "Ein Fall für zwei" after nearly five decades on air, concluding one of the country's longest-running television programmes.
The final season, comprising four episodes, is scheduled to air in 2027, followed by a 90-minute television film that will close the story. The penultimate season — the twelfth featuring the current lead duo — is set to premiere in September 2026.
"Ein Fall für zwei" first aired on 11 September 1981 and has run continuously with rotating casts. Actors Antoine Monot and Wanja Mues have led the series since May 2014, appearing in 46 episodes through July 2026.
