Maddox and Zahara Jolie-Pitt have taken a further step toward legally dropping their father Brad Pitt's surname, fulfilling a California requirement by publishing notices of their intended name changes in a Los Angeles legal newspaper.
Zahara, 21, plans to be known as Zahara Marley Jolie and ran notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on four dates in June and July, while Maddox, 24, intends to go by Maddox Chivan Jolie and published his own advertisements on four dates beginning in June. Hearings on the petitions are scheduled for September, with Zahara's next court date set for 28 September, according to court documents reported by People and USA Today.
The moves follow a pattern within the family: sibling Shiloh officially dropped the Pitt surname in 2024. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie separated in 2016 and finalised their divorce in 2024.
