Yamal and Porro train apart from Spain squad ahead of World Cup final

· Sports ESPARGUSA

Spain forward Lamine Yamal and defender Pedro Porro trained away from the main group on Wednesday, three days before the World Cup final against Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente sought to allay concerns over Yamal's fitness, saying the teenager had no injury and that Porro was managing a fatigue-related issue. However, Yamal was observed wearing strapping on his left thigh during Spain's first training session in the area, grimacing at times as he worked separately. De la Fuente spoke directly with both players during the session.

Yamal has played every minute of Spain's knockout campaign, scoring one goal, after Spain eliminated France 2-0 in the semifinals. Any absence would represent a significant blow ahead of Sunday's final.
