The World Broadband Association (WBBA) officially launched AI-Net, a global certification framework for data communications aimed at countries and telecom operators worldwide, during the Asia-Pacific Broadband Development Summit in Bangkok on Wednesday.
The certification evaluates networks across three pillars: national policy guidance, industry collaboration ecosystems, and Net5.5G penetration rates. Assessments span both macroeconomic and microeconomic levels, employing the IP Network Development Index (IPDI) to measure the performance of active networks. The IPDI metric was previously introduced at Mobile World Congress.
The initiative positions the WBBA as a standards-setting body for broadband infrastructure as the telecommunications industry accelerates its transition toward next-generation network architectures.
