Victor Wembanyama has agreed to a five-year, $252 million rookie-scale extension with the San Antonio Spurs, sacrificing a potential $303 million supermax deal to preserve salary-cap flexibility for the franchise. The contract, which includes a player option in its fifth year, anchors the French center to San Antonio through the end of the decade.
The deal follows a dominant 2025-26 campaign in which Wembanyama averaged 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.1 blocks per game and was unanimously named NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He also earned All-NBA honors for the first time.
The Spurs finished 62-20, the second-best record in the league, and advanced through the Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs before falling to the New York Knicks in the NBA Finals.
