US longevity entrepreneur Bryan Johnson reveals autoimmune gastritis diagnosis

· Health USA

Bryan Johnson, the American entrepreneur known for spending roughly $1 million a year on his extreme anti-ageing regimen, has disclosed that he was diagnosed with autoimmune gastritis in May and revealed the condition publicly in late June.

Autoimmune gastritis causes chronic inflammation of the stomach and is associated with an elevated risk of stomach cancer. The disease is rare, estimated to affect between 2 and 5 percent of the population. Johnson had suffered from unexplained low ferritin levels for 11 years before the diagnosis was confirmed.

The 51-year-old has previously disclosed an autoimmune thyroid condition diagnosed in his early twenties, marking a second autoimmune disorder. The revelation underscores the limits of even heavily funded longevity efforts in the face of chronic illness.
