Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe has drawn fierce condemnation after describing the 1996 Dunblane school shooting as "one murder" during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The Restore Britain leader claimed handguns were banned in the UK because of the incident, in which 16 children and their teacher were killed at Dunblane Primary School in Scotland.
The remarks prompted swift backlash from Scottish politicians. Conservative MSP Stephen Kerr called the comments "astonishingly insensitive and profoundly disrespectful", while SNP MSP Keith Brown said Lowe was "a stain on our politics". Jack Crozier, brother of victim Emma Crozier, also criticised the MP.
The Dunblane massacre remains the deadliest shooting in UK history and led to major gun law reform, including a 1997 ban on most handguns. Separately, the Crown Prosecution Service said there was insufficient evidence to charge Lowe over alleged threats against Zia Yusuf.
