German rock musician Udo Lindenberg has pulled out of the Panikpreis finale scheduled for 1 August 2026 at Kloster Hirsau in Calw, citing ongoing health concerns. His management said the 80-year-old is suffering from severe gastritis that developed over an extended period and requires further recovery time on medical advice.
Lindenberg was admitted to a Hamburg hospital for examinations in late May 2026, leading him to cancel a performance originally set for 3 June. Tickets for the August event remain valid, with full refunds available for those requesting them.
The Panikpreis, awarded biennially since 2008, honours emerging German-language musicians. This year's winners are Katha Rosa, YALE and Finn Moriz.
