Although the White House publicized the network's first station opening, administration officials have stated that Freedom Fuel is a private firm with no government involvement. The brand filed for its trademark the same day Donald Trump announced the firm on Truth Social, less than a month after registering as a Delaware corporation. Industry experts have noted that a $3.47 per gallon price point is too low for the stations to remain profitable, given typical industry net profit margins of 13 cents per gallon.
The deep discounts arrive during a period of high fuel costs. Following the outbreak of war involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran in late February 2026, domestic average gas prices peaked at $4.63 per gallon in May. Currently, the national average stands at $3.88 per gallon, compared to regional averages of $3.98 in Pennsylvania and $3.93 in New Jersey.
