U.S. President Donald Trump announced what he called the "most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country", declaring an "Economic D-Day" targeting Iran and its commercial partners.

Writing on Truth Social, Trump warned that any country doing business with Tehran would face "tremendous economic consequences", demanding that oil smuggling, currency exchanges, shell companies and ship registries linked to Iran "must all stop now". He called on allied nations to cooperate in isolating Iran, stating it "will never have a nuclear weapon."

Trump said Iran had failed to seize an opportunity to reach a deal. Iran had not immediately commented on the announcement.
