Ten people died after a small passenger plane crashed in North Andros, the Bahamas, on July 10, ending a short domestic flight with the loss of all aboard.
The Cessna 402 was en route from Nassau's Lynden Pindling International Airport to San Andros when it went down in North Andros, west of the capital. Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis initially said one person had survived the crash but later confirmed that person had died from their injuries, a reversal he acknowledged publicly. The nine passengers and pilot all perished.
The Bahamian government temporarily suspended all Flamingo Air flights following the disaster. The airline had already drawn scrutiny the same day, when a separate Flamingo Air aircraft caught fire after landing in a second safety incident. Authorities have not yet released a preliminary cause for the crash.
