A 15-year-old boy from Saronno died after suffering an apparent electric shock at an amusement park in Spotorno, on Italy's Ligurian coast, late on July 16. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. while the teenager was using a punching-ball attraction, according to initial reports.
Emergency responders, including volunteers from the Croce Bianca and a 118 medical vehicle, attempted resuscitation at the scene before transporting the boy to San Paolo Hospital in Savona, where doctors continued life-saving efforts for roughly three hours without success. The victim was on holiday with a friend and the friend's parents.
Local police have seized the ride involved in the incident, and Mayor Mattia Fiorini issued an order closing the entire amusement park. Prosecutors have opened an investigation into the death.
