A young man has confessed to killing his 13-year-old girlfriend Aurora Tila by throwing her from a seventh-floor balcony in Piacenza, Italy, on Oct. 25, 2024, speaking for the first time during his appeal hearing. The defendant, who was 15 at the time of the killing, made spontaneous statements via video link from a juvenile prison in Catanzaro and apologised for the delay in admitting his guilt.
The ex-boyfriend was sentenced to 17 years in prison at first instance by the Bologna juvenile court, though prosecutors had sought 20 years and eight months for aggravated murder.
Judges have adjourned the appeal to Sept. 10 pending a report on the defendant's behaviour in the detention facility.
