Taiwan will remove Cambodia from two visa facilitation programs starting August 1, 2026, ending conditional visa-free entry and the Guanhong Project eligibility that had been in place since 2018.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cited a lack of reciprocity from Cambodia and Phnom Penh's alignment with Beijing on sovereignty issues as key factors. The government pointed to recent cross-border fraud cases involving Cambodian nationals as additional justification for the policy shift. Cambodian travelers will now need to apply for appropriate visas at Taiwan's overseas missions.
In contrast, Taiwan extended visa-free entry for Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines through July 31, 2027. Nationals of India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos will remain eligible for the Guanhong Project and Travel Authorization Certificate program through December 31, 2027.
