A Swedish city festival has cancelled a scheduled performance by artist Fröken Snusk after learning she is set to appear with a band led by Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson. Karl-Oskardagarna in Växjö pulled the booking for next weekend, with project manager Jonatan Blom Ekenberg saying the event is a "politically unaffiliated city festival".
Fröken Snusk is scheduled to perform with Åkesson's band Åkezzonz at a Sweden Democrats election rally in Gothenburg next week, as well as at a party event in Karlshamn on August 18. Her producer Rasmus Gozzi called the cancellation "very sad behaviour" by the festival. Culture Minister Parisa Liljestrand criticised the decision, arguing artists should be free to perform regardless of affiliation.
Fröken Snusk will instead perform at a taco restaurant in Växjö. The festival has replaced her on stage with Raggarligan.
