Spain midfielder Dani Olmo has described Friday's World Cup quarter-final against Belgium in Los Angeles as one of the three most important matches of his career, alongside the European Championship final and the Champions League semi-final against Inter. Speaking at a press conference in Los Angeles, Olmo said he has always had to constantly prove his worth to earn his place in the starting line-up.
Olmo praised Belgium as a very complete team and singled out Thibaut Courtois as one of the world's best goalkeepers. Spain's own goalkeeper, Unai Simón, has gone 609 minutes without conceding at this tournament, a run Olmo credited to collective defensive work.
The reigning European champions enter the match unbeaten in 35 games and seeking a first World Cup semi-final since their 2010 title-winning campaign.
