Spain's State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued red warnings for extreme heat in the provinces of Valencia and Zaragoza, with temperatures expected to surpass 42 degrees Celsius on Wednesday in coastal areas of Valencia and the Ebro river basin in Zaragoza.
Several other regions face elevated alerts, with Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, and Murcia placed under orange warnings as highs are forecast between 38 and 41 degrees. In the Madrid region, Aemet will maintain a yellow heat warning through Wednesday for the metropolitan area and Henares corridor, where thermometers could reach 37 degrees, while southern and western districts may see highs up to 36 degrees.
The warnings come as Spain endures a significant heat wave sweeping across the Iberian Peninsula in mid-July.
