SpaceX has postponed a planned test launch of its Starship rocket after an automatic abort halted the countdown at the company's Starbase facility in southern Texas.
The vehicle was scheduled to lift off at 17:45 local time for what would have been its 13th flight test. Several engines failed to ignite, triggering the automated shutdown before liftoff, the company said. The launch has been delayed by at least 24 hours while engineers investigate the cause, with a new attempt expected within days.
The mission would be the first Starship test since SpaceX raised $86 billion in an initial public offering last month, marking a closely watched milestone for the company's heavy-lift rocket programme.
