Sony Group has raised its full-year net profit forecast by 50 billion yen, now expecting 1.21 trillion yen for the fiscal year ending March 2027 — a 17 percent increase from the previous year. The Japanese electronics and entertainment conglomerate also lifted its operating profit estimate to 1.72 trillion yen, up 19 percent, while projecting revenue of 12.5 trillion yen.
The upgrade follows a strong April–June quarter, in which net profit surged 32 percent to 342.1 billion yen and operating profit jumped 40 percent, beating analyst expectations. Sony sold 1.6 million PlayStation 5 consoles in the period, pushing cumulative sales past 90 million units.
The company expects its games division to drive growth, with operating profit for the segment forecast at 660 billion yen, up 42 percent. Sony is counting on the November 19 release of Grand Theft Auto VI to bolster revenue, alongside God of War Laufey in early 2027.
