Shohei Ohtani became the first Japanese player to hit 300 career major league home runs, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a solo shot for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

The milestone arrived in Ohtani's 1,101st career game, the fifth-fastest pace in major league history. It was his 20th home run of the season and his seventh lead-off blast of the year, marking consecutive games with a home run.

Despite the achievement, the Dodgers fell 4-3 in a comeback loss to the Rockies. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed confidence that Ohtani could eventually reach 500 career home runs, underscoring the franchise's long-term expectations for their star.
