A roughly 50-metre scaffolding structure collapsed across a busy Copenhagen street early Tuesday evening, leaving a male cyclist in critical condition and disrupting traffic in the Nørrebro district.
Police received the first call at 17:31 local time on 7 July. The man was struck by the falling framework and transported to Rigshospitalet, while a woman in her 30s sustained minor injuries and was also taken for treatment. Authorities believe no further casualties are expected.
The collapse tore down several power lines onto the roadway near Nørrebrogade 230, though emergency crews have secured the area. Bus routes 5C and 4A have been rerouted indefinitely in both directions. Police are working to identify the company behind the scaffolding, and representatives from the firm arrived at the scene after 18:00. The remainder of the structure later gave way.
