Samsung Electronics posts record quarterly profit on AI chip demand

· Business KOR

Samsung Electronics reported its highest-ever quarterly operating profit and revenue on Wednesday, driven by surging demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence servers.

The South Korean company posted an operating profit of 89.5 trillion won ($62 billion) for the second quarter of 2026, up 1,814% from a year earlier and beating analyst estimates compiled by LSEG. Revenue reached 171.5 trillion won, a 130% year-on-year increase, with both figures marking quarterly records.

Samsung said DRAM and NAND sales hit all-time highs as AI server buildouts accelerated. The company scaled up sales of its next-generation HBM4 chips and shipped the industry's first HBM4E samples to major customers, positioning itself to capture further gains as high-bandwidth memory demand grows.
