A Polish court on Wednesday sentenced a Russian man to seven years in prison for spying for Moscow's Federal Security Service and participating in a plot to mail an explosive device, while his wife received three years for assisting his intelligence activities.

The Sosnowiec District Court found Igor Rogov guilty of gathering information on Russian opposition figures in Poland on behalf of the FSB between February and August 2022. Rogov also transmitted details about Polish organizations assisting emigres to his handlers.

In July 2024, Rogov collaborated with two Ukrainian nationals and another Russian citizen to send a parcel containing nitroglycerin, a detonator, and a cumulative charge component concealed in a metal thermos. The package was intercepted at a courier warehouse in the Lodz region before reaching its destination.

Irina Rogova was convicted of aiding her husband's espionage operation. The July 9, 2026 verdict concludes a case that underscores Poland's ongoing security concerns regarding Russian intelligence activities on its territory.
