Polish officials have threatened severe retaliation after Starlink removed Poland from its European roaming zone, a policy shift announced on July 14 that takes effect on August 17. Under the new rules, Poland is no longer included in the 36-country Europe region, forcing Polish Roam subscribers to notify Starlink of any foreign travel, submit identity documents, and either return home or switch to a costlier plan after 30 days abroad.
Deputy Prime Minister and Digitalisation Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski called the move a "scandal" on August 12 and threatened to block X in Poland, while his ministry sent an official letter to SpaceX demanding equal treatment. Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned Elon Musk that Warsaw could reconsider its $50 million annual Starlink spending.
Poland is a major Starlink customer, having allocated 77 million euros last year for terminals and subscriptions in Ukraine.
