A 25-year-old Perth man is fighting for life after a robot vacuum cleaner exploded in his kitchen, triggering a house fire that left him with severe burns across most of his body.
The blast occurred on 2 July in Brabham, a northern suburb of Perth. Lachie Perrem sustained burns to roughly 75 percent of his body and was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital. Western Australian firefighters dispatched four crews to bring the blaze under control. Investigators have ruled the fire an accident caused by a fault in the robotic vacuum.
A crowdfunding page established for Perrem had raised more than $26,000 by Monday as he continues treatment.
