The Pentagon has added more than 50 service members to its casualty database, bringing the total number of US troops wounded since the war with Iran began on February 28 to 757, with 18 killed in action. The Defense Department created an "overseas operations" category in its casualty analysis system to track the figures.

The updated toll comes as the Trump administration escalated economic pressure on Tehran. President Donald Trump warned on Truth Social that any country providing a lifeline to Iran would face "TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences", declaring what he termed an "Economic D-Day."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed the declarations, saying the measures would bring "further defeat" to the United States. The Trump administration formally notified Congress of the new conflict under the War Powers Act on July 7.
