A 17-year-old Palestinian footballer has died from his injuries a week after being shot during an attack by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, the Palestine Football Association said.

Fadi Hamdallah al-Nassan, a player for Al-Mughayyir Club and member of the Palestinian youth national team, was shot in the thigh on July 11 while settlers attacked his village. The Palestine Football Association blamed Israeli forces for the shooting. His leg was amputated following the injury, and he later succumbed to his wounds.

The association said the number of Palestinian sports figures killed since October 2023 had reached 1,013, including 568 from the football community. At least 1,088 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank by Israeli soldiers or settlers over the same period, while at least 46 Israelis have died in Palestinian attacks or Israeli military operations in the territory. Separately on July 18, settlers and forces set fire to Palestinian property in two attacks near Ramallah and Nablus, destroying olive trees and a home.
