Palantir sues London police watchdog over blocked £50 million contract

· Business GBR

Palantir is challenging the refusal of a £50 million contract with the Metropolitan Police at London's High Court, after filing a legal claim against the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) in June 2026. A full hearing is scheduled for January 2027.

MOPAC blocked the deal, claiming the Met failed to present its procurement strategy for approval, while the mayor's office also cited a lack of open competition. Palantir's lawyer Lord Pannick KC argued that MOPAC's assessment of the company's values and ethics was an unlawful role. Palantir's UK chief executive Louis Mosley accused Mayor Sadiq Khan of putting politics over public safety, while Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley warned of potential cuts to front-line services following the decision.

The dispute comes as Britain is conducting a review of a separate £330 million NHS contract with Palantir, after a parliamentary committee recommended using a break clause that Mosley called irresponsible.
