Pakistan ended an eight-match losing streak away from home in Tests by beating West Indies by eight wickets on day four of the second Test at Queen's Park Oval, Port-of-Spain, drawing the two-match series 1-1.
Chasing 75, Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam scored unbeaten 24 runs each to guide Pakistan home, with Azam sealing the result by hitting back-to-back sixes off Jomel Warrican. Shafique, who made 160 not out in the first innings, was named Player of the Match. Sajid Khan and Ali Usman took four wickets each as West Indies collapsed to 117 in their second innings. The victory lifted Pakistan to eighth in the World Test Championship standings.
West Indies captain Roston Chase said his side got their bowling balance wrong and could have fielded an additional spinner on a pitch where slow bowlers claimed 20 of 28 wickets. Pakistan next tour England for a three-match series beginning at Headingley on 19 August.
