Oregon's attorney general will ask a court to suspend Paramount's $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. for 60 days while the state pursues internal documents tied to the merger. The state is demanding records related to an internal initiative code-named "Project Warrior" and Paramount's lobbying of the Trump administration to secure support for the deal.
The filing, to be submitted in Multnomah County court, seeks to delay a transaction that Paramount intends to close on or immediately after July 16. The company has told Oregon it will not finalize the deal before that date. The U.S. Department of Justice has already cleared the transaction.
Oregon is not alone in its opposition. California, New York, and other U.S. states are preparing to sue to block the merger altogether.
