A mass carbon monoxide poisoning at a former brewery complex in Holice, a district of Olomouc in the Czech Republic, left one man dead and seven workers hospitalized on June 29, 2026. The highly toxic gas leaked from a jet pump used during demolition work at the site, authorities said.
Two of the injured were in critical condition, one of whom required resuscitation, according to emergency responders. Seven people in total received medical treatment. The deceased was identified only as a male worker who succumbed to the effects of the poisoning.
Olomouc criminal investigators have taken over the case for further examination. Police have not yet specified the legal classification of the incident.
