Former Germany international Niklas Süle marked his amateur football debut with a goal but ended on the losing side as SV Tiefenbach fell 7-2 to SG Kirchardt in the Kreisliga on Saturday.
Süle, who spent his professional career as a defender, was deployed in central midfield and up front for the occasion. He headed in his side's second goal in the 75th minute to make it 6-2, though Tiefenbach could not prevent a comprehensive defeat, having trailed 3-0 at halftime. The match was played in front of roughly 500 spectators in temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius.
Preparation time was limited for the high-profile arrival, as Süle had trained with the squad only three times before the season opener.
