New York claimed the top position in the 2026 Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index, released Wednesday by Yanolja Research, with Paris ranking second and Osaka third.
Japanese destinations featured prominently, with Kyoto placing fourth overall and leading the attractiveness sub-index alongside Osaka. Okinawa and Tokyo also reached the top 15, while European cities secured nine spots in the top 50 and 28 in the top 100. London placed sixth and Rome seventh among European entries.
The index measures cities' appeal to international travelers, weighing factors that drive tourism demand and visitor spending.
