Nearly 200 migrants reached Spain's Balearic islands over the weekend of July 18–19, 2026, in one of the season's largest influxes across the western Mediterranean. A total of 200 people arrived in small boats over the two days, with 171 landing on Saturday alone aboard seven vessels intercepted off Formentera, Cabrera and Mallorca.
Among Saturday's arrivals, the Civil Guard and maritime rescue services intercepted three boats carrying 50 migrants of North African origin, while a separate group of 86 sub-Saharan migrants arrived on three other vessels off the same islands. An additional 29 people were located on Sunday.
The archipelago has recorded 182 boat arrivals carrying 3,470 irregular migrants since the start of 2026. Last year, the islands received 7,321 people in 401 boats, a 24.5% rise over 2024.
