Mother of Henry Nowak's murderer jailed for removing knife from scene

Kiran Kaur was sentenced to three years in prison at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday for removing the knife used by her son to murder Henry Nowak in December 2025.

Kaur, 53, was found guilty of assisting an offender in May by the same jury that convicted Vickrum Digwa, who was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years in June for stabbing Nowak five times. The weapon was recovered at the family home about a week after the attack following CCTV examination.

Digwa had falsely claimed Nowak racially abused him, leading officers to handcuff the dying victim. The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the police response, with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood saying a report is expected within three months.
