Moroccanoil will not renew its sponsorship of the Eurovision Song Contest, ending a six-year partnership with the competition, the European Broadcasting Union confirmed. The Israeli haircare brand had been the event's lead sponsor through recent editions in Malmö, Basel, and Vienna.
The announcement comes one day after the EBU revealed significant rule changes governing the contest. Under the new regulations, a winning country will be deemed ineligible to host if an armed conflict or sensitive geopolitical situation substantially affects its security and stability. The EBU would then appoint an alternative host broadcaster, as it did in 2023 when Liverpool staged the contest on behalf of Ukraine.
The brand faced criticism over its association with the contest during Israel's participation amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. Israel has competed in the last three editions. Next year's contest will be held in Burgas, Bulgaria, following the country's victory in Vienna.
