Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow high temperature warning for 12 counties as Ireland braces for its most significant heat spell of the year. The warning applies from July 10 at 13:00 to July 12 at 07:00 across Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford, where daytime maxima will exceed 27C with overnight lows above 15C.
A broader six-day nationwide weather advisory runs through July 14, with temperatures expected to climb to the low 30s from Thursday onward. Tropical nights may occur over the weekend as the settled conditions are driven by a ridge of high pressure extending from the Azores.
Officials have flagged heightened risks of wildfires, heat stress and very high UV levels during the prolonged spell.
