Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan have purchased Strancally Castle, a neo-Gothic estate in County Waterford, Ireland, in a transaction estimated between €20 million and €30 million. A spokesman for Zuckerberg confirmed the deal, though the exact price has not been disclosed.
The three-storey castle, built between 1827 and 1830, features nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms and sits on 440 acres along the banks of the Blackwater. The property is located roughly 200 kilometres from Meta's European headquarters in Dublin. The previous owners, Michael and Giancarla Alen Buckley, held the estate for 25 years before the sale.
Meta has maintained its European headquarters in Dublin since 2009 and employs approximately 1,500 people in Ireland.
