Marc Márquez won Saturday's sprint race at the German Grand Prix, converting his circuit-record pole of 1:19.041 into a controlled victory at Sachsenring. Brother Álex Márquez finished three-tenths behind in second and Fabio Di Giannantonio took third.
The result trimmed eight points off championship leader Jorge Martín's advantage, leaving the gap at 32 points after Martín finished sixth. Earlier in the day, Raul Fernandez had topped free practice with a 1:20.829, while Francesco Bagnaia managed only 19th for Ducati.
The weekend turned costly for Marco Bezzecchi, who fractured his left collarbone in a Q2 crash at turn seven and withdrew from the Grand Prix. He had already been nursing injuries from a fall the previous week at Assen. In other classes, Brian Uriarte claimed his first Moto3 pole and Iván Ortolá took pole in Moto2.
