A 30-metre luxury yacht sank off the coast of Porto Cervo in Sardinia after an engine failure triggered a fire on board. The Angiola II, an Amer F100 valued at more than eight million euros, had been delivered to its Italian owner just days before the incident.
All 14 people on board, including guests and crew, were rescued by nearby private vessels and brought to the port of Poltu Quatu. No injuries were reported. The yacht now lies on its side at a depth of roughly seven metres between Cappuccini island and Capo Ferro in the Costa Smeralda.
No fuel leaks have been detected, and the hull is being monitored pending the arrival of a specialist salvage tug. Built in 2020 by Italian shipyard Permare, the 145-tonne vessel featured five guest cabins. The incident follows two other yacht fires in the region earlier this summer.
