Clarence Frazier Jr., 48, has been charged with the murder of a federal officer following the fatal shooting of Deputy U.S. Marshal Drew Hanson in Alexandria, Louisiana, on Sunday.
Hanson was killed at approximately 3 p.m. on July 13 while serving an arrest warrant for contempt of court after Frazier failed to appear for his trial on third-degree rape and sexual battery charges. Frazier, a registered sex offender, allegedly opened fire at officers after being found barricaded in his bedroom and was taken into custody following a three-hour standoff. He could face life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted.
The FBI, Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, and Louisiana State Police are conducting a joint investigation into the killing.
