A Lebanese military court agreed on Wednesday to release singer Fadel Shaker on bail in four security cases dating back more than a decade, setting combined bail at roughly $3,350. The Permanent Military Court, presided over by Brigadier General Wassim Fiyad, set bail at 100 million Lebanese pounds for three files and 200 million pounds for a case linked to the 2013 Abra clashes between the army and fighters loyal to Sheikh Ahmed al-Assir.
Government Commissioner Judge Claude Ghanem approved the release in three cases but is still reviewing the Abra file. Shaker, who had been convicted in absentia to sentences of five to 15 years with hard labour, surrendered to army intelligence at the entrance of Ain al-Hilweh camp in October 2025 after more than a decade in hiding.
The release request cited testimony from former army officers that Shaker did not take part in fighting, along with his deteriorating health. In May 2026, a Beirut criminal court acquitted him of attempted murder charges in a separate case.
